In the first two months of 2013, Romania imported a quantity of 723.200 tons of crude oil equivalent, with 36.400 toe (5.3%), more than in the same period of last year, according to data centralized by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
Oil production rose in January-February 2013 at 619.500 toe, up 2.9% (18.700 toe), higher than in the same period of last year.
According to a British Petroleum study, at the end of 2011, there were registered 600 millions barrels of proved oil reserves of Romania, about one-third of those recorded at the end of 1990, 1.5 billion barrels.
